35kv and 110kv new maintenance-free composite cross-arm tower successfully passes full-scale tower test

the transmission line tower is one of the most important components in overhead transmission lines, whose structure and performance directly affect security, economy and reliability of lines. shemar has creatively imported the composite material technology into power transmission tower field, and cooperated with east china electric power design institute to successfully develop 35kv and 110kv new maintenance-free composite cross-arm tower with characteristics of light weight, high strength, good insulation performance, corrosion resistance and maintenance-free, etc., and successfully passed mechanical test for full-scale tower of china electric power research institute.

the tower head of 35kv new maintenance-free composite cross-arm tower is allocated in drum shape, the nominal height is 23.4m, and full-height of the tower is 30.6m. with the docking mode of the tower body, the composite cross-arm is connected with the tower body through the flange. under the performance with 20% of deign overload at 90° gale, the offset of the tower head is small, and the cross-arm is not damaged, which successfully passes tests for performances of full-scale tower of jiangsu electric power company research institute. comparing 35kv new maintenance-free composite cross-arm tower with conventional steel tube tower, because suspension insulators are cancelled, the nominal height is reduced by 0.6m, and steel consumption of the whole tower is reduced by 0.27t, which has certain economic advantages.

the 110kv new maintenance-free composite cross-arm tower is also allocated in drum shape, the nominal height is 29m, and full-height of tower body is 40m. the composite cross-arm is connected with the tower body through flange, which reduces the bending load of the composite cross-arm through stayed cables, thus to play the advantage of large compression-tension strength of the composite cross-arm. in the process of full-scale tower test, the maximum strain of the composite cross-arm is 4000 (με), reaching the limit value of material design load, to fully reflect the perfect design combining material strength and the economy. the tower has successfully passed the test for performances of full-scale tower, and the cross-arm is in good condition. compared with conventional steel tube tower, the nominal height and tower height of 110kv new maintenance-free composite cross-arm tower are significantly reduced by 1m and 1.5m respectively because suspension insulators are cancelled. the corridor width is reduced by 14%, and steel consumption of the whole tower is reduced by 2.1t, which has obvious economic advantages.
